Q. How do I call other Cisco Callway users either within the same company or in a different company?
A. To call Cisco Callway users within the same company, press the Home button and navigate to the Phone Book. From the Phone Book option, highlight the applicable user or room; then, press Call. Or, you can just dial the 10-digit Cisco Callway number and press Call.
To call Cisco Callway users in another company, press the Home button, enter the 10-digit Cisco Callway video number, and press Call.
Q. Can I dial a US-based landline or mobile phone number from my Cisco Callway endpoint?
A. Yes, to dial either a US-based landline or mobile phone number, enter the 10-digit phone number, as documented above; then, press Call.
Q. Can I call standards-based SIP or H.323 compliant video endpoints from my Cisco Callway endpoint?
A. Yes, to call standards-based SIP or H.323 compliant video endpoints, enter the Uniform Resource Identifier (URI)-based format (endpoint@domain) in the address box, and press Call. The endpoint is a specific destination in the organization that you want to connect to and domain is the fully qualified domain name; for example, othercorp.net.
Q. Can I call an endpoint that has a public IP address from my Cisco Callway endpoint?
A. Yes, to call an endpoint that has a public IP address, first dial ip to access the Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system. Then, enter the IP address that you want to dial by using this format: Number*Number*Number*Number, followed by #. (Use the * to substitute for the dots in the IP address.) For example, 10*10*10*2#. The system automatically connects you to the endpoint.
Note: If you enter the incorrect IP address while you are connected to the IVR, you cannot change the IP address; instead, you need to hang up and re-access the IVR to enter the correct IP address.
Q. Can users who are not on the Cisco Callway network dial my endpoint by using H.323 calling?
A. Cisco Callway supports inbound calls from an H.323 or SIP video device provided that the H.323 endpoint can dial the Cisco Callway URI <video number>@callway.net. Cisco Callway endpoints cannot be reached by dialing an IP address from an H.323 compliant standards-based endpoint.
Q. How do I locate an entry in the phone book?
A. You can locate an entry in the phone book by using the quick search by letters feature. In the search field that displays at the top of the phone book page, enter the first letter of the entry that you want to locate. A list of entries with that letter displays. You may need to enter additional letters to find the entry that you want. Be aware that the system searches within the current folder and within any existing subfolders, but not within folders that are higher up than your current location.
Q. How can I change the names of the units in the phone book (address book)?
A. To change these names, please contact your sales partner and request an update to your subscription on the Cisco Callway ordering portal.
Q. Can I dial a US toll-free phone number from my Cisco Callway endpoint?
A. Yes, to dial a US toll-free phone number from your Cisco Callway endpoint, enter the 10-digit phone number as you normally would. For example, 8775334246.
Note: You do not need to prefix a US toll-free number with a 1.

A. Yes, callers outside of the US can call Cisco Callway numbers by dialing the country international access prefix (for example, 00), US country code (1), and the 10-digit video phone number. For example, to call from the UK to a Cisco Callway endpoint in the US, dial 00 1 571 482 1000.
Q. Does Cisco Callway support the use of special phone numbers on Cisco Callway endpoints?
A. No, Cisco Callway does not support special phone numbers, such as operator service calls, 411 (directory service) calls, 9xx (premium service) calls, collect calls, and outbound international calls.
Q. Can I make an international call if I have purchased an international calling service from another service provider?
A. Yes, if you purchased an international calling card service from another service provider, you can dial its toll-free phone number from your Cisco Callway endpoint. Follow the instructions provided by your international service provider to make a call once you are on the IVR. Be aware that you cannot dial international phone numbers directly from your Cisco Callway endpoint.
Q. Does Cisco Callway support 911 dialing for emergency services?
A. No, Cisco Callway does not support 911 functionality, so you cannot rely on your Cisco Callway subscription for emergency services. If you dial 911 from your Cisco Callway endpoint, a message alerts you that 911 functionality is not supported on the Cisco Callway service.
