Problem
This leading provider of optical broadband access systems was in dire need of a new communication system. Every company department, including administrative, research and development, and sales and marketing, operates from the 35,000 square-foot headquarters in Alpharetta, Georgia. Approximately 100 employees, including those in the state-of-the-art R&D lab, were operating with an outdated Nortel PBX system that was very unreliable. “The system was passed down from the building’s previous occupants, and it was giving us a lot of problems,” said the company’s IT Manager. “It would drop calls and reboot for no reason.” Based on a referral from Cisco, Adcap Network Systems was contacted to replace the antiquated system.
Solution
After upgrading several switches, Adcap replaced the Nortel PBX system with Cisco Call Manager Express and installed more than 70 VOIP phones to allow for more reliable and easily managed communications. Additionally, Cisco Unified Presence and Mobility were installed to improve productivity by helping users connect in the most efficient manner. Lastly, Meeting Place Express was added to boost conferencing capabilities.
Results
“The new Cisco system has really helped streamline communications within the company while also providing a better work environment for the entire IT department. We save a lot of money with the in-house phone and conferencing solutions, and they are much more reliable.” Company officials have also commented on the increased speed and special features, such as accessing voicemail via email. “Adcap’s overall knowledge and technical competency were impressive. They were able to provide a customized solution at a very competitive rate.”
