Introduction
Strategically located on I-75, close to downtown Atlanta, Henry County is one of the nation’s fastest-growing communities. With its abundance of available business locations, qualified work force, top notch schools, low cost of living, temperate climate, and numerous recreational opportunities, Henry County is appealing to both potential residents and companies.
The Henry County government provides an ever increasing population (currently estimated at 180,000) with comprehensive recreational, public safety, legal and developmental services and more.
Problem
The Henry County government offices were spending an exorbitant amount of money on a communications system that wasn’t providing the level of service needed. The County’s Centrex lines, purchased through the Georgia Technology Authority, were costly and fronted numerous difficulties: scattered phone numbers and prefixes, additional fees for simple services such as voice mail, and substandard speakerphones that made conferencing difficult. Plus, the addition of a new phone line would take three or more weeks to complete. Henry County personnel and commissioners agreed it was time to upgrade the outdated system.
Solution
After a great deal of pre-sales consultation, Adcap Network Systems was contracted to provide the Henry County government with a $1.25 million network upgrade and phone system. Adcap supplied the design, equipment, and technical expertise to implement a full LAN upgrade, including dual 6500s in the core with 3560 closet switches. A full wireless network running off light weight access points (LWAP) was also engaged.
Additionally, Adcap designed an IP Contact Center Express server to expertly automate and integrate various processes, and Call Manager with Unified Messaging and 2800 series routers SRST combine with IPcelerate and IPstudio to assist various departments including police and fire.
Results
The upgraded communication system will save Henry County taxpayers approximately $400,000 per year while greatly increasing their level of service. And, Henry County employees are thrilled with the numerous benefits. County offices now have a continuous set of telephone numbers and new phone lines can be added immediately. “Things that are normally taken for granted in today’s age, like voice mail and phone conferencing, were difficult and expensive before,” said Technology Director Clark Ranier. “Now we’re able to provide those services to everyone.”
“During the entire process, Adcap was great to work with. They’re big enough to provide the level of expertise we needed, but small enough to maintain a high level of customer service. I really liked the fact that we could get in touch with an engineer right away.”
