Darlington School

Darlington SchoolIntroduction

Darlington School is an independent private school that provides academic, artistic, athletic, and social opportunities to students in pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade. Darlington’s 500-acre campus is home to high school-aged boarders and serves as a home base for students from Rome, neighboring towns in Georgia, and an average of 24 states and 16 countries.

Problem

Darlington School had been operating on a 20 year old phone system that wasn’t meeting their needs. Not only did the outdated system make parent/teacher communications strained, the cost of repairs was astronomical. Plus, the process of making changes through the local phone company was difficult and lengthy.

Solution

Adcap Network Systems worked with Darlington School to develop an affordable and unique solution that would fulfill all their communication needs. Adcap upgraded Darlington’s LAN, including the deployment of Cisco CE500 switches and a larger, more robust router. Additionally, Call Manager with Unified Messaging was implemented providing each teacher with private voice mail. The lower campus was successfully connected to the upper campus, and the outdated phone system was completely eliminated.

Results

“Updating to Cisco was extremely cost effective for us,” said Darlington’s Network Administrator Mano Hernandez. “We’re saving $4,000 a month and with the new network we’ll be able to handle new technology as it comes.”
The Darlington School’s new network has improved parent/teacher communications, expedited changes to the phone system while eliminating third-party maintenance fees, and integrated voicemail and email for flexible messaging.
“Adcap provided the best solution for us,” said Mano. “Their quality of work and professionalism really set them apart. I’m glad we chose Cisco and Adcap, because in the end the IT department sleeps better at night.”
