Introduction
Located in the heart of middle Georgia, Bibb County and its county seat, the City of Macon, are home to a large and growing population, including nearly 40,000 families with children under the age of 18. Children in the county are served by the Bibb County Public School System, which includes 42 elementary, middle, high, and specialty schools that offer curriculum for pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade students.
Problem
The Bibb County Public School System was operating on an outdated phone system that was only meeting the minimum requirements of staff and faculty. Few people had voice mail and teacher/parent communications often required multiple messages routed through the school office, or prompted teachers’ use of personal cellular phones. This substandard system was also costing the school district a substantial amount of money, especially in relation to the level of service it provided.
Solution
Adcap Network Systems outfitted forty-nine schools within the Bibb County School System with approximately 650 new voiceIP phones, thereby providing all faculty with voice mail while linking all the county’s schools. The significant accomplishment in this roll out is that Adcap engineers were able to install the Cisco-based phone solution over the school system’s existing HP network, allowing them to maintain their current investment and sparing them the expense of a costly upgrade – something deemed unattainable by Adcap’s competitors.
Results
